Get Out! CD Release Party for Aloud - Thursday, March 20th at Great Scott

Aloud, the melodic Boston rockers with two lead singers, celebrate the release of Fan The Fury with a CD release party at Great Scott on Thursday, March 20th. It’s 18+, $8 and starts up at 9PM. Also playing that night are The Shapes from NYC and Radio America from Worcester/NYC.
Great Scott is at 1222 Commonwealth Avenue in Allston. Take the Green Line’s “B” train to Harvard Ave. Get directions from Great Scott’s website.
Fan The Fury is an emotionally charged dichotomy of passionate rebellion and contemplative acceptance. Aloud delivers driving grooves and melodies wrapped up in themes of struggle, perseverance, injustice and love. From the frustrated anger of ‘Sometimes I Feel Like A Vampire’, and the hopeful anthem ‘Backs To The Wall’, to the weary but enlightened affirmation of ‘Justice & Forgiveness’, Fan the Fury is a twenty-somethings’ coming-of-age reflection on a not-so-perfect world. Aloud’s hooky melodies, great rock arrangements, and soaring vocal lines shine on tracks ‘Fan The Fury’, a forceful rallying call to the downtrodden; and ‘The Last Time’, an ode to loved ones separated by circumstance.

Photos! Girls Guns & Glory and Rogue Heroes St. Patricks Weekend Concert at Harpers Ferry - March 15th

After not seeing any live music for several weeks I made it out for two awesome shows this past weekend. Kier Byrnes and his band Three Day Threshold hosted their 5th Annual St. Patricks Day Hoedown. This year it was at Church (formerly known as the Linwood.) I was trying out my new video camera so I don’t have photos of the show but might get some video up later this week.
On Saturday night, Rogue Heroes and Girls Guns & Glory played a St. Patricks Day (weekend) concert at Harpers Ferry in Allston.

Photos! Girls Guns & Glory, Cassavettes and Drag The River - 2/8/08

Girls Guns & Glory, Cassavettes and Drag The River played to a sold out crowd at the Middle East Upstairs on Friday, February 8th. It definitely seemed like one of those shows that would have been much better suited for the bigger downstairs room. Drag The River was in town from Fort Collins, Colorado. I hadn’t heard of them before but they ended up being an excellent surprise. Check out their MySpace page to hear what this country rock band sounds like.
The Cassavettes’ next show in Boston is on Saturday, March 1st at the Hard Rock Cafe with Breaking Laces. Girls Guns & Glory will be at The Beachcomber in Quincy on Friday, February 22nd and then upstairs at Hennessey’s on Wednesday, March 5th with Harris and Tiger City.
